What is your policy on lost and found items?

At Taxi York, we understand that items can sometimes be left behind in our vehicles, and we strive to make the process of retrieving lost belongings as straightforward and stress-free as possible. Here’s our policy on lost and found items:

  1. Reporting Lost Items: If you realise you’ve left something in one of our taxis, please contact us as soon as possible. You can report lost items by calling our customer service hotline, emailing us, or using the contact form on our website. Please provide a detailed description of the item, along with your journey details (date, time, pickup and drop-off locations) and any identifying features of the item (e.g., colour, brand, unique markings).
  2. Item Recovery Process: Once we receive your report, we will immediately initiate a search by contacting the driver of the vehicle you travelled in. Our drivers are required to report and submit any found items to our office at the end of their shift.
  3. Claiming Your Item: If your item is found, we will notify you and arrange a convenient time and location for you to collect it. For security purposes, you may be asked to provide a valid ID and describe the item in detail before it is returned to you.
  4. Unclaimed Items: Items not claimed within 30 days will be donated to local charity organisations or disposed of, depending on the nature of the item.
  5. Liability: While we make every effort to return lost items to their rightful owners, Taxi York is not liable for any lost, damaged, or stolen property left in our vehicles. We encourage all passengers to double-check their belongings before exiting the taxi.
